Tuxedo jacket from from evening ensemble, 1996
This tuxedo jacket (worn with a matching dress 2017.24.2.1) was worn by Jean Chamberlin soon after she became Program Manager of the B-2 program at Boeing. She wore it for a formal dinner that preceded the Naming Ceremony for the B-2 Spirit of Kitty Hawk. It was the first formal outfit she had purchased for a work function and wanted to avoid something “too girly” as a new Program Manager in a male-dominated field. Chamberlin would later become Vice President and Program Manager for The Boeing Company’s C-17 military transport aircraft program. The outfit has an Oleg Cassini label and was purchased at the Tacoma Mall.
