Silver egg cracker or topper, "Chef Essential," ca. 2010
The egg cracker was designed by Seattle chef Thierry Rautureau (1958-2023), nicknamed "The Chef In The Hat." He was the chef and owner of the Loulay and Luc restaurants in Seattle. Rautureau was born France and moved to the United States at age twenty to work at several restaurants. Rautureau won various awards including the James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Pacific Northwest in 1998.
