Neil Meitzler (1930–2009) was born in Colorado and his family moved to Oregon during the Depression, and later to Orting, Washington. After high school graduation, Meitzler moved to Seattle where he became a draftsman at Boeing. He also worked as a set painter and was mentored and influenced by Kenneth Callahan and other artists of the "Northwest School." Beginning in 1957, Meitzler was employed at the Seattle Art Museum as an exhibition designer. Throughout the 1950s-1970s his works received several awards and were featured at various exhibitions in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. He was most known for bringing a modern style to his landscapes and natural scenes.
