Contemporary oil painting, "The City," by Wendell Brazeau, 1948-1950
Order an ImageWendell Brazeau (1910-1974) was born in Spokane, Washington, and moved to Seattle in 1928 to attend the University of Washington. Brazeau worked several jobs post graduation including a position at Boeing where he drew 3-D perspectives from engineers' plans. After WWII, he became a faculty member in the UW art department which he held until his death in 1974. Brazeau's work is often geometrical with repeated shapes and bright colors. He was also influenced by the European artists of the time such as Klee and Cubist-style painters.
