Post Hotel sign, ca. 1930s
After the Great Fire of 1889 destroyed many of the wooden buildings in Seattle, the Post Hotel was constructed in brick in 1899-1900 on the corner of Post Avenue and Yesler Way. The hotel had small rooms and housed late gold rush seekers heading to the Klondike in Alaska, and accomodated "comfort ladies" as well.
