Seattle Post-Intelligencer (P-I) desk with typewriter, ca. 1930s
This desk was purchased by Fred Niendorff (donor's grandfather) when the Seattle P-I newspaper relocated to the waterfront location in 1986. Fred Niendorff held a series of positions at the P-I including helping to frame the 1946-1947 original legislation that created the Canwell investigative committee. While Fred did not use this particular desk when working at the P-I, he did use one that was very similar. The typewriter was used by Hazel Niendorff of whom we have her collection of writings on marine history in our library.
