Fallout shelter box of rations, ca. 1961
Order an ImageDaniel J. Murphy was a bricklayer in Seattle and he built several bomb shelters in the area in the late 1950s. These rations were stocked in his family's shelter in Ballard. The Murphy family received a certificate and commendation for their efforts to "stay safe" during the Cold War era.
