Filson was founded in Seattle in 1897 to outfit Klondike Gold Rush miners for harsh conditions. They soon became known as suppliers of high-quality gear for all kinds of outdoor professions, adventurers, and hobbyists. This heavy wool jacket belonged to the donor’s father, Paul Sanders. He wore it for hunting, fishing, and just walking in the woods. It was a gift from Paul Atkinson, a friend from Forks, Washington and chair of the Olympic Logging Conference 1949-1950.
