Order an ImageMicrosoft was founded by Paul Allen and Bill Gates on April 4, 1975, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Allen and Gates were childhood friends who attended Seattle's Lakeside School together, and grew up to found the multinational technology company based in Redmond, Washington. This particular logo was used from 1987 to 2012, when it was replaced with a newer design, and the sign was removed from the Redmond Microsoft campus.
