Box light "Microsoft" sign, ca. 1987-2012
This sign graced one of the buildings on the Microsoft campus in Redmond, Washington. This was Microsoft's fourth logo in the history of the company and was used from 1987 to 2012. Scott Baker, the creator of this Helvetica italic typeface logo, described the slash between the 'o' and 's' as a way to emphasize the 'soft' part of the name, and to convey motion and speed.
