Influential Seattle retailer John Doyle Bishop (1913-1980) sold high-end womenswear at his store at 5th and Union. In the late 1960s, he designed a line of silk scarves that featured a chicken wire pattern and his signature in the lower corner. The chicken wire design was a reference to his upbringing in Idaho on a chicken farm. The scarves were sold in four two-tone colorways: navy on red, black on white, black on brown, and white on gray like this one.
