Order an ImageJean Thornber (b. 1919) created these driftwood sculptures using the LuRon method for polishing driftwood. She found the wood in a freshwater lake in Ocean Shores, WA. After cleaning it and removing the outer soft wood, Jean used a piece of deer antler to polish the wood and give it it's shine. There are no varnishes or shellacks on the wood. Jean had taught this art form and wrote a book on the subject "Driftwood Sculpture" (c) 1975.
