Prairie Underground was founded in Seattle in 2004 by designers Camilla Eckersley and Davora Lindner. This logo t-shirt is the first garment the company produced and was part of their first collection in Summer of 2005. Graphic T-shirts were on trend at the time but their twist was the use of organic cotton and water-soluble inks. The puff sleeve is a frequent motif in their designs, drawing on historic clothing as references. Prairie Underground works to sustain Seattle’s existing resources and strengthen its manufacturing, in an era after the local apparel industry suffered decades of decline. All pieces are made in Seattle, in small editions each season. The sewing contractors all live within 25 minutes of the city.
