Washington Conservation Corps ring, ca. 1940s

This ring belonged to Evert "Eggie" Hillard Soderlund. Born in Preston, Washington, to Swedish immigrant parents, Mr. Hillard was the youngest so he had to work to help support his widowed mother. When he worked for the Conservation Corps, he helped build a camp in Vancouver, Washington, and his check was sent home to his mother.
