This figurine was collected by the donor at the previously named Safeco Field as a free souvenir while attending the May 7, 2010, Mariners game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, California. The 2010 team season was Ken Griffey, Jr.'s final season with the Mariners; he retired mid-season on June 2, 2010. Griffey, Jr. played for the Mariners from 1989-1999 and from 2009-2010 (playing as #24 during both tenures). He is a ten-time Golden Glove winner, a 2016 inductee to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and a Mariners fan favorite. Despite the good vibes generated from the bobblehead giveaway, the Mariners ultimately lost that May 2010 game to the Angels, 8-1.
