American League MVP baseball player Ichiro Suzuki bobblehead doll in original box, 2001

Ichiro was signed to play the Seattle Mariners right fielder in 2001 after playing nine years for the Orix Blue Wave in Japan's Pacific League. He is the first Japanese-born player to receive the American League MVP and Rookie of the Year, and he led the majors in batting average and stolen bases. The decision to put first name "Ichiro" rather than last name "Suzuki" on his jersey was first made in Japan as a promotional move, then was carried over when he moved to the US. This bobblehead doll was given away to fans as a promotional item at a Mariners game.
