Maria Frank Abrams (1924-2013) was born Marika Franciska Frank in Hungary. As a Jew during WWII, she was deported to Auschwitz in 1944, and was eventually freed in April 1945. In 1948, Abrams came to the US to study art at the University of Washington (UW), and she married that same year. She received her BFA from UW in 1951, her MLS from UW in 1964, and attended a private seminar at the Mark Tobey Studio in Seattle in 1952. Abrams' work was featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the Pacific Northwest.
