Seattle Times newspaper rack, ca. 2000
The Seattle Times started as the Seattle Press-Times in 1891. Seattle attorney Alden J. Blethen bought the newspaper in 1896 and renamed it the Seattle Daily Times. Over the next century, the newspaper moved to several locations before landing at the current headquarters on Denny Way in 2011. The Seattle Times main competition was the Seattle Post-Intelligencer until the P-I became an online-only publication in 2009, leaving the Times as the only daily newspaper publication in Seattle.
