Original artists' model for Fremont Troll sculpture made in June 1990

In 1990, the Fremont Arts Council held a contest to find a sculpture for the empty space under the Aurora Bridge. The Troll concept was not selected as a semifinalist, but the artists were still allowed to submit it into the competition if they paid the costs of constructing a model. Four models (three semifinalists and the Troll) were voted on at the 1990 Fremont Fair and then at the Fremont branch of the public library. The Troll was the overwhelming favorite.
