Cup and Saucer from Vivace Expresso, ca. 1998
Espresso Vivace was founded in Seattle 1988. Co-owners David C. Schomer and Geneva Sullivan first operated a coffee cart at 5th and Union downtown, with a second cart operating near Broadway Market on Capitol Hill. In 1992 they began roasting their own coffee in the Northern Italian style and around the same time opened their roastery and café, also on Capitol Hill. In addition to the flavor and quality of their coffee, Espresso Vivace is also credited with developing and popularizing latte art in the United States.
