Jess Dan Cauthorn (1923-2005) was born in Seattle and was a student at the Burnley School of Professional Art, which he later purchased and ran until it became the Art Institute of Seattle in 1982. He influenced many northwest artists and was a member of the American Watercolor Society, Puget Sound Group of Northwest Painters, and the Northwest Watercolor Society. This watercolor depicts a typical rainy day in downtown Seattle.
