Order an ImageThe Kingdome, officially called the King County Multipurpose Domed Stadium, was built in 1976 south of downtown Seattle in the Sodo neighborhood. It was home to the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Seahawks, and Seattle SuperSonics. It also hosted the pre-Major League Soccer Seattle Sounders, as well as other sports, concerts, and events. Some of the more popular sporting events held in the Kingdome included the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in July 1979, the NBA All-Star Game in 1987, and the NCAA Final Four in 1984, 1989, and 1995. The domed stadium was eventually demolished by implosion in 2000 to make way for the new Seahawks stadium. MOHAI has a large collection of Kingdome memorabilia collected prior to its demolition.
