Sailor-style hat worn by tour guides on the Dominion Monarch, 1962

The Dominion Monarch was commissioned in 1939 and was a World War II troop transport ship. In the late 1950s, Eddie Black, a member of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair organizing committee, saved the ship from the scrapheap by helping to purchase the vessel and turning it into a floating hotel for fairgoers. Unfortunately, it was not a successful endeavor and the ship was scrapped after the fair closed.
