Order an ImageEdmond James Fitzgerald (1912-1989) was born in Seattle and was a marine, landscape and portrait painter as well as combat artist during World War II. He was greatly influenced by fellow local artist Eustace Ziegler and they had neighboring studios on Pier 9 in Seattle. Fitzgerald loved the Pacific Northwest, and although he did fine portraits, he considered marine subjects to be his serious work. This watercolor of the Olympic Mountains as viewed from West Point depicts the beach near what is now Seattle’s biggest wastewater treatment facility.
