Red and white hat, ca. 1945
This hat was part of a large collection of hats owned by Gertrude Paul, a Seattle dance teacher and patron of the arts. It has a homemade label which reads “Hats by Gertrude, Seattle.” This suggests that the hat was either made by Gertrude Paul herself, or the name is a coincidence and there was a milliner named Gertrude who ran a small business in Seattle.
