Tiara, 1949
Order an ImageMrs. Kaye Swazie wore this tiara when she was honored as Woman of the Week in December 1949. She was President of the Seattle Day Nursery at the time. This Seattle organization, now known as Childhaven, was founded in 1909 by the Reverend Mark A. Matthews, and was one of only fifty childcare centers in the US at that time. The original nursery building was constructed in 1921 in the First Hill neighborhood.
