Pair of brass flower vases, ca. 1918
These ornate vases, owned by a Seattle doctor, were made from WWI artillery shells. Many of the artillery shells left over from the war were collected by either soldiers or local artists and were subsequently transformed into mementos for both sentimental reasons and for the tourist trade.
