Beauty parlor spiral waving machine, ca. 1930s
Order an ImageRuth Haydeen, a beauty operator who owned a shop in the south end of Seattle in the 1950s, discovered this wave machine in the facility when she bought it. This particular machine was used in the 1920s and 1930s, often taking all day to set a client's hair. With all the various cords and metal clamps, there was always the danger of getting burned.
