Dice cup, ca. 1895

When the Klondike Gold Rush hit Seattle starting in 1897, thousands came through the city on their way to Alaska. Merchants across the city clamored to “mine the miners” by selling supplies needed to brave the cold. While local saloons and gaming rooms offered inviting places to spend their money on the way to and from Alaska. This dice cup is similar to the type that was used in those gaming establishments.
