Barber pole from Franz Fischer's shop in Seattle, 1928

This eight-foot barber pole graced the front of a barber shop opened in 1928 by Franz Fischer at 131 1st Avenue North in Seattle. Franz retired in 1933, but the barber pole remained in front of the shop for several more barbers including: Robert Thomas in 1934; Thomas Hatherill in 1935; John D. Blight from 1936-1939; Louis M. Wageman from 1940-1942; Joseph Mitchell in 1944; and a mother-daughter team from 1948-1965.
