Grapefruit slicer, 1920-1940
Order an ImageThis grapefruit slicer was used by Louise Nichols Chamberlain. The wooden base rests flat on a table or counter, but the inner face is concave to accommodate the rounded shape of the grapefruit. The serrated blade forms a serpentine cut in the grapefruit, presumably for decorative purposes, and the length of the wood allows the grapefruit to be cut along its circumference with one roll across the cutter.
