Racing crew letter patch, from the University of Washington, 1912
This letter patch for the women's racing crew at the University of Washington features crossed oars behind the number 12. This may be for the Sophomore Class of 1912 who won the 1910 Junior Day form contest. Despite the university cancelling women's rowing in late 1910, these resilient competitors organized their own teams to continue the sport, all in the spirit of the suffragettes, just one year after the women won the right to vote in Washington State.
