AYP pins from the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition held in Seattle, 1909
The Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition (AYPE) was a world's fair held in Seattle in 1909. It publicized the development of the Pacific Northwest and positioned Seattle as a gateway to Alaska and the Pacific Rim. These commemorative “AYP” pins cleverly hide the “Y” between the A and the P, with the “1909” on the tail of the Y. The AYPE fairgrounds became the campus of the University of Washington.
