Sampler made by Mary Gillam Woodbridge, 1819
Order an ImageThis sampler belonged to Seattle businessman Frank P. Dow and was made by the second child of Dudley Woodbridge and Dorcas March. Mary Gillam Woodbridge was Frank's great-grandmother. Dudley Woodbridge was the great-great grandson of Reverend John Woodbridge who married Mercy Dudley, daughter of the first governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1620. Frank P. Dow (1859-1933) was a Seattle customs broker and founder of the Frank P. Dow Company, one of the largest customs brokerage houses on the Pacific Coast.
