Eliza Ferry Leary was the daughter of the first Governor of Washington, Elisha P. Ferry. She married John Leary, a prominent and successful early builder of Seattle, as well as the city's first Mayor. Eliza was President of the Rainier Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and she was acquainted with many famous leaders of the West and the nation.
