This miniature mansion was donated to MOHAI by Claire Bagley Hammons in 1955. Mrs. Hammons and her husband, Frederick Dent Hammons, had the house model designed by Seattle architect Joseph S. Cote (designer of the Green Lake Carnegie Library) and then spent more than a decade working on the detailed furnishings. Hand-made carpets, miniature paintings, clocks made from vintage watches, and many other finely detailed objects adorn the miniature home. Some of the furnishings were copied from pieces in the Hammons' Queen Anne Hill home, including the ivory figurines on the dining room sideboard. Portraits of early Seattle settlers Daniel Bagley and Thomas Mercer hang in the library, and photographs of Mrs. Hammons' parents, Clarence and Alice Bagley, are on the wall of the master bedroom. Pieces of heirloom jewelry from the Bagley, Mercer and Hammons families were turned into furniture and wall decorations throughout this miniature residence. This artifact is not currently on display.
