The Ryo Yei Maru was a Japanese fishing vessel that experienced engine failure during a gale in December 1926 and subsequently drifted for nearly a year before it was found off the Washington coast near Cape Flattery in October 1927. The name of the boat roughly translates to "Good and Prosperous" but fate would determine otherwise for this doomed vessel. There were no survivors and rescuers found the remains of the twelve crew on board, but only two of the souls' bodies were intact. It is strongly believed that cannibalism had occurred on the boat.
