This ceramic jar was the type that early Euro-American settlers used in Washington Territory for fruit canning. It was donated by Margaret Moore Latimer (Mrs. Norval H. Latimer) who was born in 1869 and came to Seattle with her family sometime before 1880. She was an active member of many local clubs and organizations, including the Seattle Historical Society (later known as the Museum of History & Industry).
