Rainy Day History is a digital public history project featuring teen-led scholarship and multimedia storytelling that shines a light on under-told and relevant histories.
The project includes an award-winning podcast produced by the MOHAI Youth Advisors, and a website that serves as a hub for digital humanities projects created by History Lab participants, MOHAI Youth Advisors, and other teen historians.
The Rainy Day History Podcast
We’re diving into history to uncover what it means to be a Seattleite both in the past and the present. This isn’t your everyday museum podcast—it’s completely teen-researched, written, and produced.
Season 1: True Northwest
Each episode highlights one object on display in MOHAI to explore what stories it has to tell about what it means to be a Seattleite.
Discover the history of objects that are personal and political. Examine the legacies that the events surrounding them have left for this city.
Season 2: Growth
Season two is all about "growth"—tackling inclusion and exclusion through projects, people, and events that helped expand Seattle and put it on the map!
Learn about marvelous buildings, transit plans that went nowhere, and cultural movements that drew people to the city. We'll also be exploring how growth for some often comes at the expense of others.
The Rainy Day History Website
The Rainy Day History website is a hub for creative and experimental approaches to sharing local history, on topics important to young people. Explore digital humanities projects created by History Lab participants, MOHAI Youth Advisors, and other teen historians from the Seattle area.
