Recently declared a “national public health emergency,” opioid-related deaths kill more people in Washington State than automobile accidents or firearms. Local responses range from providing police with tools that counteract overdoses to opening safe injection sites.

Join Enrique Cerna as he moderates an important community conversation examining how King County can work to tackle the growing epidemic of opioid addiction.

Enrique Cerna

Enrique Cerna is an Emmy award winning host and moderator. He has anchored current affairs programs, moderated statewide political debates, and interviewed major newsmakers. In June, 2013, he was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Northwest Chapter’s Silver Circle for his work as a television professional.

Caleb Banta-Green

Caleb Banta-Green is a researcher at the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Institute at the University of Washington. He’s been on the state opioid task force since 2008, King County’s since 2016, and in 2012 served as the Senior Science Advisor at the White House Drug Policy Office.

Brad Finegood

Brad Finegood is the co-chair of the King County Opiate Task Force. He has a Master’s Degree in Counseling with a specialty in Addictions. He has worked in this field for 20 years. Most importantly he is the survivor of a younger sibling that passed away of an overdose.

Rob Johnson

As a Seattle City Council Member (District 4), Rob Johnson represents Northeast Seattle on the Seattle City Council. As Chair of Seattle’s Planning, Land Use & Zoning Committee, he is working to increase affordable housing through land use and transportation to connect communities and expand access to opportunity throughout Seattle.

Thea Oliphant-Wells

Thea Oliphant-Wells is a social worker, harm reductionist, and in long term recovery from opioid use disorder. She works for King County’s Public Health Needle Exchange program serving clients directly and through systems level advocacy. She is a member of the King County Heroin and Opiate Addiction Task Force.
