SUMMARY:History of Rowing in Seattle: The Return of the Husky Challenger
DESCRIPTION:In honor of the upcoming exhibit\, Pulling Together: A Brief History of Rowing in Seattle\, the University of Washington Men’s Rowing team will row the iconic shell from the historic Conibear Shellhouse to MOHAI\, where it will then be displayed in the Faye G. Allen Grand Atrium. \nIn its return to Lake Union\, the UW crew—all Washington State locals\, outfitted in uniforms reflecting the attire of the 1936 crew—will leave the University of Washington at 11:15 am and arrive at Lake Union Park at approximately 11:45 am. This exhibition\, curated by Negarra A. Kudumu\, features past Neddy grand prize award recipients—some of the most significant Northwest visual artists of the last quarter century. Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served. \nThe Neddy Artist Award program is funded by the Behnke Foundation and stewarded by Cornish College of the Arts as a tribute to the Seattle painter and teacher Robert E. [Ned] Behnke (1948-1989).
