SUMMARY:History Café: Preserving Neighborhood Stories through Oral History
DESCRIPTION:As Seattle undergoes rapid transformation\, the Central District reflects many of the challenges neighborhoods across the city face in balancing change with preservation. How are residents of the Central District\, the only Seattle neighborhood where African-Americans were allowed to rent or own property for much of the twentieth century\, responding? \nJoin Jill Friedberg from Shelf Life Community Story Project and Madeline Crowley of People of the Central Area & Their Stories to hear how their oral history projects are not only helping to preserve this legacy\, but may influence the way in which we imagine our city’s future. \nA limited number of FM system and neck loop Assistive Listening Devices are available for this program.
