DESCRIPTION:Create your own candle with Noir Lux at MOHAI! \nLocal\, black\, woman-owned company Noir Lux will be hosting a candle pouring bar at the MOHAI Mercantile between 12pm and 3pm on Sunday\, February 11. \nParticipants will learn about the art of candle making\, select their own custom fragrance\, and pour a 9oz soy wax candle to take home. Candles are made with premium soy wax and high-quality phthalate free fragrance oils\, which are FDA approved\, cruelty free\, and skin safe. \nCandles take up to one hour to cure\, so drop in between 12pm and 3pm to make your candle\, and then explore the museum or enjoy the Gourmondo at MOHAI Café. \nAll ages are welcome! Adult supervision is required for registrants 14 and under. A liability waiver will be required to participate.

DESCRIPTION:Join MOHAI and the Duwamish Tribe for a screening of Promised Land. Promised Land is an award-winning social justice documentary that follows two tribes in the Pacific Northwest: the Duwamish and the Chinook\, as they fight for the restoration of treaty rights they’ve long been denied. In following their story\, the film examines a larger problem in the way that the government and society still looks at tribal sovereignty. Following the film there will be a panel discussion with members from the Duwamish and Chinook Tribal Councils. \nThis screening of Promised Land will feature captioning. ASL Interpretation and CART captioning are available during the introduction and panel discussion. In addition\, a limited number of Assistive Listening Devices are available upon request.
